Going for Gold!
We're incredibly proud to have won Gold in the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2024 as ‘Large Visitor Attraction of the Year’.
The VisitEngland Awards for Excellence champion the very best of the country’s tourism industry celebrating quality, innovation, best practice and exceptional customer service.
We attended the national awards ceremony on Wednesday 5 June at Rum Warehouse, The Titanic Hotel, Liverpool as the only finalist from the South West.

This is the second time we have made it through to these national awards, in 2023 winning Bronze for Accessible and Inclusive Tourism. Having also picked up two Gold awards in 2024 at the South West Tourism Award for Large Visitor Attraction of the Year and Accessible & Inclusive Tourism, feedback has been incredible:
What is not to love about WWT Slimbridge? Beautiful birds, amazing viewpoints, calming spaces and hidden hides. Mixed with canoe experiences, getting wet and wild in Welly Boot Land, meeting the resident otters, whilst heading on an arctic expedition - just shows how WWT Slimbridge is one of the best visitor attractions in the region.
Winning Gold in the regional awards and now Gold in the national awards is a massive achievement for WWT Slimbridge - our dedicated staff and volunteers are delighted.
All of WWT’s wetland centres exist to fulfil founder Sir Peter Scott’s vision of connecting people with nature and aim for wetlands and wildlife to be accessible to everyone.
Winning Gold in the VisitEngland Awards acknowledges our commitment to delivering a truly memorable visitor experience for everyone.
