Golden Plover Flock
As well as the large flocks of Lapwing previously mentioned we are now starting to catch up with some Golden Plover too in the wet fields. Both Corner field and Newfield have seen them drop in recently. Curlew are also around and the Barnacle Goose numbers have been remaining close to the 7000 mark with a leucistic bird in Lochar field this morning. Yellowhammers have peaked at 16 birds outside the Peter Scott Observatory on Christmas Eve, with Long-tailed Tit, Treecreeper and Goldcrest still regularly seen along the Loaning and Avenue. The Water Rail has been observed in the Peter Scott Trail this week and the otters are still making an appearance from time to time.
