Good for Raptors
A change in weather bring noticeably milder conditions in between some misty rain.
The past few days has seen plenty of raptor action with Merlin, 4+ Marsh Harrier, Peregrine, 3+ Buzzard, 2 Sparrowhawk and 2 Kestrel. Barn Owl occasionally showing in the morning and late afternoon from the Ron Barker Hide.
A smaller numbers of Whooper Swan than we would normally expect at this time of year although still 200+ regularly coming in during the day and for the afternoon feed, more roosting.
Similar numbers of wildfowl as of late.
At least 700 Lapwing, 70+ Ruff, 8+ Black-tailed Godwit and double figure Snipe, a Redshank was new in.
Water Rail along the back edge of the water from the Janet Kear Hide.
Corn Bunting(s) in the fields next to the public footpath running up the railway cross at the far end (~ 1km beyond the Sewage Works) of the community reed bed walk.
