Goslings and ducklings hatched out for the Easter holidays
As if on cue for the Easter holidays greylag and Canada geese families are appearing with goslings in tow on the wet grasslands from the Ramsar and Sand martin hides, the Wetland Discovery area and on Waterside walk. Mallard ducklings are about as well on the long ditch and in the pond under the trees in the Woodland loop. It looks like at least 1 lapwing is on a nest across from the Ramsar hide.
Mon 10 April
Lapwing hide: 1 lapwing, 2 Canada geese, 12 greylag geese in 5 pairs one pair with 5 goslings and one pair with 3 goslings, 1 Cetti's warbler, 1 grey heron, 1 mallard, 1 coot, 1 cackling goose.
Wetland Discovery: a pair of pochard
Scrape hide: 2 males and one female pochard, 3 snipe, 1 lapwing
Ramsar and Sand martin hide: 2 cackling geese, 8 lapwing - 1 on nest, 11 common gulls, 2 snipe, 1 female pochard, 10 sand martins, 2 pied wagtails
Arun Riverlife: 2 oystercatchers on gravel island
Waterside walk: 2 Canada geese with goslings

Scrape Hide: a pair of lapwing nest scraping, 1 pochard, 1 kingfisher
Ramsar and Sand martin hide: 4 pairs of greylag geese all with goslings, c20 sand martins, 4 egret, 1 sedge warbler, 8 lapwing - 2 on nests
Wetland Discovery: 2 greylag geese with goslings, 8 Canada geese, 7 mallards, 2 black-headed gulls, 1 pochard, 3 tufted ducks, 1 Cetti's warbler
Lapwing hide: 2 lapwing
Sat 8 April
Arun Riverlife lagoon: 20 black-headed gulls, 2 herring gulls, 1 mute swan, 7 Canada geese, 2 greylag geese, 3 pochards, 2 tufted ducks, 1 mallards, 1 coots, 1 kingfisher on perch outside nest bank.
Lapwing hide: 5 lapwing 4 displaying
Ramsar and Sand martin hide: 2 little egrets, 1 cattle egrets, 9 lapwings, c20 sand martins
Scrape hide: 1 pochard, 1 lapwing.
