Great egret & good gadwall counts
A great egret has been onsite since Monday wading and fishing between the Ramsar and Sand martin hides. Visitor Martin Watson took this photo of the great egret last October at Arundel.
Gadwall numbers are high with over seventy on Tuesday morning between these two hides as well. A few cattle egrets around as well and a little grebe.
The Scrape hide has its share of gadwall, shoveler ducks, a few teal and a kingfisher.
Last Wednesday 27 September we had over 200 hirundines moving though – sand martins and house martins. For passerines we have stonechats around, a black cap and mixed flocks of tits with chiff chaff and chaffinches.
More snipe sightings from Scrape & Sand martin hides and a common sand piper was in midweek.
