Green-winged Teal again

Slightly warmer over night melting most of the ice out on the reserve. The drake Green-winged Teal was picked out on Vinson's Marsh early afternoon.

On the Mere 2 Goldeneye (female) joined big numbers of Shelduck, Pintail and Mallard. Small numbers of Tufted Duck and Pochard(12) present but dwafted by Teal and Wigeon.

Two Tawny Owl roosting but well hidden. Call in at in focus for directions.

Raptors reported included 3 Common Buzzard, 2 Kestrel, 2 Sparrowhawk and Peregrine.

As usual it should be possible to see at least 50 species of bird in a day without too much effort, although a telescope is very useful from most of the hides.
