Hazardous conditions

For anyone visiting Caerlaverock today, please take great caution when driving to the reserve. After the heavy fall of snow yesterday, we have had heavy rain all night which has melted through the snow as leaving sheet ice and black ice everywhere.

The road in from Clarencefield (A725) through Bankend and up the reserve has sections on black ice this morning so take care on the approach. Also the road from Annan through Cummertrees (B724) has black ice in places.

Once on the reserve it is a similar story. Please use the staff car par as the visitor one is closed due to icy conditions. Also whilst walking on the reserve please take care on all paths, as once again sheets of ice are covering the paths. Where possible please walk on grassy verges on the sides of the paths. In places these are icy as well so please be very cautious where you stand.
