His Majesty the King to remain patron of WWT
His Majesty the King has retained his patronage of WWT, the charity for wetlands and wildlife, following his coronation.
The Royal Household opted to conduct a review of the King's patronages following his royal highness' accession, and we are very happy to receive confirmation that King Charles III will remain the patron of WWT.
His Majesty has a long history with WWT, joining his mother on several visits to WWT sites in his childhood, taking time to feed the Nenes and explore the site with his parents.
A long-time campaigner for conservation and the environment, the King took over as patron of WWT from HM Queen Elizabeth II in 2016, cutting the Trust’s 70th birthday cake that year.
In 2022, he officially opened the home of WWT’s founder Sir Peter Scott to the public, having met Sir Peter when he was a young Prince. During his visit, His Royal Highness joined the first meeting of the Blue Recovery Leaders Group, a collection of purpose-minded businesses brought together by WWT, working together to help make the goal of bigger, better wetlands a reality.
