Hobby
A few sightings of at least 1 Hobby a 2nd cal yr bird today, also the large juv female Peregrine was seen chasing a Snipe on site. A juv Marsh Harrier has been seen a few times around the reserve today as well Buzzard, Kestrel and 2 Sparrowhawk.
High water levels on the Mere and Woodend Marsh are not helping the wader numbers at the moment, this is due to an issue with filters/pumps on site and we are hoping to resolve this in the coming days. A count of 4 Ruff (3 ad, 1 juv), 23 Black-tailed Godwit, 1 Green Sandpiper, 2 juv Little Ringed Plover, 20+ Snipe and c700 Lapwing around the reserve today.
Two sightings of Swift and good numbers of House Martins. Two Corn Bunting were seen toward the end of the community reedbed walk this morning.
