Hobby

A 1st summer/2nd calendar year Hobby was seen again soaring over the Mere flushing all the birds just after midday. A juvenile Marsh Harrier was again around in the morning, also the usual Kestrel, Sparrowhawk and Buzzard sightings.

Hobby in flight over the Mere (Graham Arthur Jones)

Plenty of Ruff back on the Mere with the recent drop of water level, also a few Black-tailed Godwit and Snipe among the larger numbers of Lapwing present.

A good build up of Teal on the reserve all in the eclipse plumage, making them all look like females/juveniles. Plenty of Shoveler and Gadwall too.

Please call into the In Focus shop for any details on sightings or where to find birds on site.
