Intruder male still about
Today the female osprey has been doing all the incubation herself and just before 1pm she became quite agitated and the unringed intruder male flew in and tried in vain to mate with her, she quickly shoo'd him off the nest. Then later at just after 2.30pm her mate, yellow 08 flew in and landed on the nest beside her before quickly taking off again to chase the intruder which was still about.
As far as I can see there are no more than 2 eggs in the nest today but the nest cup is so deep and cosy that it is difficult to see what is going on.
Still no confirmation of the origins of our new male osprey, yellow 08 but we hope to find out very soon.
