It looking like it's going to get Otter!

Yes we aren't talking about the weather. Today two wild Otter were seen hunting from the Harrier Hide early afternoon. They caught a fish before swimming out of sight. This is the first time this species has been seen on the reserve, although 15+ years ago evidence was found that one had been present. Exciting stuff indeed hopefully they will stick around as there is plenty of fish in the pools, ditches and on the Mere.

Sighting from the past two days have been good as well with waders including 26+ Ruff (inc juveniles), 23 Dunlin, Greenshank, 2 Green Sandpiper, 3 Common Sandpiper, 3 Little Ringed Plover, Ringed Plover and 500+ Lapwing.

Raptors included Hobby, 4 Marsh Harrier, 4+ Common Buzzard, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel.

Other birds seen 2 Raven, Kingfisher and a flock of 30+ Long-tailed Tit including other assorted tits and phylloscopus warblers.
