Teal, Shoveler and Pintail very close taking shelter from the wind. A few lapwing and 2 Redshank.
Holden Tower
Big flocks of Greylag and Barnacle Geese, a pair of Peregrines and a Marsh Harrier over the saltmarsh. Lots of Starlings and small groups of waders, (Golden Plover, Ringed Plover and Dunlin) moving from the estuary into the Top New Piece (Zeiss Hide).
South Lake
Very windy here but a group of 43 Black Tailed Godwits, 6 Ruff and 12 Redshank sheltering with lots of lapwing Teal and hundreds of Gulls LBB, Herring but mostly BH Gull. Cormorant 8 and Great Crested Grebe 1 on the main lake. The Crane family (1 ad and 2 youngsters) dropped in briefly.
Zeiss Hide
Hundreds of Teal but Wigeon only distantly on the estuary. Lapwing (180) scattered across the scrapes and fields. A very mobile flock of small waders with maximum counts of 145 Dunlin, 1 Little Stint, 12 Ringed Plovers, 140 Golden Plover, 7 Ruff, 2 Spotted Redshank a single redshank and a handful of Snipe. The other Crane family family two ad and 1 young were here with a single other adult. A water Rail was calling close to the hide.
