Knot Unusual

Monday rolling update...

At least 8 Knot with a flock of ~ 400 Black-tailed Godwit on the Mere this morning. Some years were may only get one or two sightings of Knot, which are primarily a coastal wader. This year we have had exceptional numbers with one flock in June numbering 180, which is possibly an inland record for Lancashire at least.

Other waders include 2 Greenshank, Green Sandpiper, Ringed Plover, Little Ringed Plover, 2 Dunlin, 10+ Snipe, 15+ Ruff and 400+ Lapwing.

Teal are on the increase with ~ 250 on Woodend Marsh this morning.

Little Grebe and Great-crested Grebe on the Mere.

Juvenile Peregrine hunting over the reserve this morning.
