A summary of sightings for recent days
Middle Point
The male White-spotted Bluethroat was again singing and viewable from the Shepherds Hut this morning. The Lesser Whitethroat was still singing along the hedge inland. Click on the link for more details.

One small group of waders included a breeding plumage Grey Plover, 25 Ringed Plover, 13 Sanderling and 8 Dunlin, another flock of small waders could be seen distantly to the North, around 70 birds.
Top New Piece
Two Lapwing, 40 drake Gadwall, 6 drake Shoveler, pair of Cranes with chicks, 10 Avocet.
South Finger- singing Cuckoo, it was previously in the Canoe Trail.
Tack Piece
A pair of Pintail on the flood, Egyptian Goose among the Shelduck, Greylag and Canada Geese and 70 Gadwall.
South Lake
50+ Avocet (13 nests), 15 Black-tailed Godwit, 29 Gadwall, pair of Shoveler, pair of Great Crested Grebe, 160+ Black-headed Gull with a few chicks on show, 4 Oystercatcher, Greylag, Moorhen, Coot and Tufted Ducks.
Rushy Hide/Peng Observatory
Pair of Oystercatcher, 30+ Avocet, six drake Shoveler, drake Wigeon, Shelducks, Coots, Moorhen, Canada Geese.
19 May
A breeding plumage Curlew Sandpiper, Grey Plover and 13 Sanderling among the waders present.
Two drake Garganey on the Top New Piece.
Gadwall counts from around the site- 27 South Lake- 51 Tack Piece- 5 in the 'Rushy' and 15 on the Top New Piece.
18 May
Glossy Ibis between the canal and South Lake at 07:50am.
17 May
The male W.s Bluethroat again singing at Middle Point.
16 May
Tack Piece
A pair of Pintail and a drake Teal with the feeding Black-headed Gulls on the central flood. A Dunlin heard calling.
Middle Point- 2 Grey Plover, a Bar-tailed Godwit, Red Knot, 1 Dunlin, 3 Curlew and 2 Ringed Plover on the mudflats
