Latest Sightings
The ever reliant kingfisher has been showing well at Ron Barker. It's favourite spot at the moment is on the recently installed perch in the pond to the left of the hide and is best viewed from the windows downstairs.
Green sandpiper has been seen over the main mere. One of the best places to see this bird is from Hale Hide in the pond or from the viewing screen along the nature trail. There are also plenty of snipe and lapwing on the reserve as well with plenty around the main mere.
The feeders are popular at Janet Kear at the moment with the usual cohort of tits and finches joined by brambling which can be seen on the table in the centre of the pond. Here is also a good place to see redwing and fieldfare, but these birds can also be seen across the reserve on the various hawthorn bushes feeding on the berries.
