Latest Sightings
It has been a partly sunny week with scattered showers. More than 300 Black Tailed Godwits and 200 Lapwings have been sighted this Tuesday.
Also seen were 50 Snipe, 7 Ruff, 2 Little Ringed Plovers and a Sparrowhawk. The Bittern has been spotted at Ron Barker hide once more, as well as a Hobby.
On Wednesday, seen from Gordon Taylor hide, there were 3 Snipe, 3 Ruff, 1 Black Tailed Godwit and 3 Green Sandpipers. A Water Rail was viewed from Rees hide, a Cetti's Warbler at Ron Barker hide, and a Peregrine at Woodend.
We surpassed our record number of Cattle Egrets today, which stands at 31, as observed from the Gordon Taylor hide. More birds sighted were 3 Wigeon, 20 Ruff, 282 Black-tailed Godwits, 3 Green Sandpipers, 2 Herons, and 3 Marsh Harriers.
At Janet Keer hide, an elusive Treecreeper was observed. 1 Common Sandpiper and 1 Kestrel were seen from Rees Hide. 5 Redshank were spotted on the Mere, as well as 11 Cormorants, 4 Teal, 4 Shovelers, a large number of Lapwings, 12 Snipe, Greylag Geese and Canada Geese.
We are expecting more Pink Footed Geese to arrive from Iceland soon!
