Latest Sightings
A huge murmuration of around 100,000 Starlings dazzled our visitors on Wednesday late afternoon.
The Snow Goose has made a reappearance on the site. It was viewed from the Discovery hide earlier in the week and flew down to Woodend Marsh on Thursday - Gordon Taylor, Rees and Tomlinson hides.
Seen on the Mere; 1 Pied Oystercatcher, 1 Little Egret, 2 Great White Egret, 1 Snipe, 1 Lesser Black-Backed Gull, 2 Grey Heron, 1 Tufted Duck, Cormorants, Wigeon, Shovelers, Pochard, Pintail, Lapwings, and Mallards.
The Pink-Footed Geese and Whooper Swans are present in good numbers - you can see them during our daily Wild Bird Talk and Feeds.
At Ron Barker hide, 2 Kingfisher have been showing well, 2 Green Sandpipers were observed, and 1 Tawny Owl was seen on the Nature Trail path.
A Kestrel has been occupying the car park and may be seen flying near Raine's Observatory and Hale Hide.
1 Marsh Harrier, 1 Buzzard, and 1 Fieldfare were spotted at Harrier Hide.
At Janet Kear hide, 2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers and 1 Sparrowhawk were sighted.
