Latest Sightings
There have been a good number of birds of prey this week; 14 Marsh Harrier, 1 Hen Harrier, 1 Merlin, 1 Kestrel, 2 Peregrine, 1 Barn Owl and 1 Short-Eared Owl.
They may be spotted from Ron Barker hide, flying over and perching at the back of the Mere, or on the Reedbed Walk.
On Tuesday, a pair of Goosander were sighted from Ron Barker hide. 32 Ruff and 6 Cattle Egret were counted, and a Bittern was observed on the Mere.
The Kingfisher and 2 Water Rail were seen on Wednesday at Ron Barker hide. 2 Mistle Thrush were seen at Hale hide. 7 Snipe and 1 Great White Egret were observed on the Mere.
The Snow Goose is still present and has been seen on the Mere this week. There is also a considerable number of the migratory Whooper Swans and Pink-Footed Geese.
7 Cormorants were counted on the Mere today. 1 Stonechat and 1 Redwing were spotted at Ron Barker.
