Latest Sightings

The sightings here at Martin Mere on a milder but mixed weather day are 65 Oystercatchers at the back of the Mere, a Curlew was heard flying over the Mere and a pair of Buzzards were sat on a gate post at the back of the Mere together. Marsh Harriers can be regularly be seen from the Ron Barker Hide and over the Reedbed.

Other recent sightings are a female Sparrowhawk immediately in front of the Discovery Hide, an Avocet at the back of the Mere. At Woodend Marsh 2 Ringed Plover were seen along with 3 Kestrals.

At our viewing screens along the nature trail Snipe are regularly seen and Great spotted Woodpecker also spotted from the nature trail.

Black-tailed Godwits, Ruff, Whooper Swans, Shelduck, Pintail, Wigeon, Pochard, Tufted Duck can all be seen from the Discovery Hide at our 12.00 and 3pm feeds.
