Latest Sightings

The sightings today include 65 Oystercatcher, 25 Cormorants, and 2 Greater Black-Backed Gulls on the Mere. There was also a Curlew heard flying over, and a pair of Buzzards were perched on a fence post at the back of the Mere together.

Marsh Harriers can be be seen regularly from the Ron Barker hide and over the Reedbed Walk.

A female Sparrowhawk was observed immediately in front of the Discovery Hide, and an Avocet was seen at the back of the Mere. On Woodend Marsh, 2 Ringed Plover were seen along with 3 Kestrels.

Snipe are regularly spotted from the viewing platforms on the nature trail to Janet Kear hide, where a Great Spotted Woodpecker can be seen.

Black-Tailed Godwits, Ruff, Shelduck, Pintail, Wigeon, Pochard and Tufted Duck can all be seen from the Discovery Hide, along with the overwintering Whooper Swans during our daily 3pm Wild Bird Feed.
