Latest Sightings

Sunshine and showers with more to come makes for an interesting week ahead. Risky to predict anymore rarities but we wouldn't want to rule out the chance of a wader or two dropping in.

It's all calmed down a little since Wednesday's Gull-billed Tern, where is it now and will it be seen again in the UK?

Back to reporting on the waders present on the reserve with 500+ Black-tailed Godwit, 300+ Lapwing, 16 Ruff, 8 Oystercatcher, 3 Little Ringed Plover, 5 Dunlin, 5 Snipe, 2 Common Sandpiper and Green Sandpiper.

Raptors included an adult female Peregrine, Marsh Harrier, 6+ Kestrel, 3+ Common Buzzard, and 2 Sparrowhawk. Barn Owls were seen ready to fledged by the barn along the inner Reed Bed Walk.

Common Tern still with a large chick out on Woodend Marsh. Up to 6 Common Tern visiting the reserve. Little Grebes from the Harrier Hide, 5 Cormorant, 6+ Grey Heron and 2 Little Egret present.

Whitethroat, Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Sedge, Reed and Willow Warblers all seen on the outer Reed Bed Walk.

Wall Butterfly on the Butterfly Bed next to the Ron Barker Hide.

Corn Bunting, Red-legged Partridge and Yellow Wagtail all present just off the reserve.
