Latest Sightings

Plenty of action on and around the reserve. The Tundra Bean Goose (below) is still present showing around the Mere. Locally there has been a small influx of birds which have probably arrived following Pink-footed Geese on their journey North.

Good for raptors; adult male Hen Harrier again, Merlin, Peregrine, 4+ Marsh Harrier, 3+ Buzzard, 2 Kestrel and 2 Sparrowhawk. Barn Owl in the afternoon.

Three different adult Med Gull in recent days. New birds coming through. A noticeable increase in Common Gull sightings too.

Waders included 700+ Lapwing, 50+ Ruff, 12 Oystercatcher, 10+ Black-tailed Godwit, 10+ Snipe.

Willow Tit regularly visiting the Janet Kear Hide feeders. Treecreeper on the Nature Trail.
