We had the first Swallow on the reserve today and a few House martins. The first Willow Warbler was also heard singing. The Chiffchaffs and Skylarks are in full swing enjoying the sunshine. This year we have heard Cetti's warblers singing in new locations fingers crossed these are new pairs and we'll have another good breeding season.

There are over 30 pairs of Lapwings on nests across the reserve. There is still a flock of Oystercatchers on the back of the mere some have paired up and are setting up territories. Only a small flock of Black-tailed godwits remain most have migrated. A few Green sandpipers have passed through.

Most of the swans have now migrated we saw a flock of 15 leave the reserve on Saturday which now leaves just 7 which may stay with us over the summer.

We hope for another good Barn owl breeding year as 4 of our nest boxes are occupied.

Hares are chasing each other around lots and enjoying the sunshine, upto 7 in one field!

Our herd of English Longhorn cattle are heavily pregnant, we have had 1 calf so far and we have named her Hope.
