Latest sightings

The sun was out today so we took the opportunity to do a butterfly and dragonfly survey on the reserve, the highlights include, painted ladys, peacocks, red admirals, small tortoiseshells, gatekeepers and meadow browns. The painted ladys are showing well on the reedbed walk feeding on the thistles. On the dragonfly transect we saw lots of azure damselflies, common damselflies, blue-tailed damselflies, brown hawker, migrant hawker, common hawker, common darters, four-spotted chasers, black-tailed skimmers and banded damoiselles

Lots of waders on the Mere including common sandpipers, green sandpipers, lapwing, ruff, black-tailed godwits and snipe.

The Marsh harriers are showing well again from the Ron Barker hide and the Gordon Taylor hide.

A few sightings of the kingfisher and barn owls at the Ron Barker hide
