A nice sunny day today which was great for butterfly and dragonfly sightings, today we saw the following butterflies peacock, red admirals, painted lady, common blue, large white. We saw the following dragonflies, migrant hawker, brown hawker, azure damselfly, blue-tailed damselfly

Still waiting for the first pink-footed geese to arrive, we have 5 that oversummered with us as they have broken wings, they are curently chilling out on the mere waiting for the hoards to arrive. We have large flocks of greylags and canadas which fly in from the surrounding farmers fields which is an amazing sight to see as they whiffle (fold in one wing and drop from the sky) onto the mere.

We have had 6 over summering whooper swans, unfortunately they didnt breed this yearand they are currently infront of the ron barker hide and edging closer to the mere in anticipation of the swan feeds. stockphoto whooper swan
