Latest sightings

We have had alot of rain over the last few days which has increased the water levels on the mere and a few of the footpaths in the grounds had to be closed yesterday (they are now open). Although the mud is now covered ono the mere the water levels are receeding quickly so this will be great for the passage waders as the mud is now refreshed just like a spring tide on an estuary.

Lots of snipe on the mere infront of the raines hide.

Lots of birds of prey around including kestrel, sparrowhawk, marsh harrier and buzzard.

The janet kear hide feeders have been busy today with highlights of bullfinch and willow tit, also sightings of goldfinch, greenfinch, reed bunting, chaffinch, dunnock, robin, blackbird, blue tit, great tit and pheasant
