Latest sightings

Due to the lockdown we have had to close our hides but there is still lots to enjoy along the nature trail. Head down towards the Harrier Hide and get great views of Wigeon, Pintail, Mallard, Teal, lapwing and Shelduck from the screens, if you look later on in the day the sunsets can be spectacular (photo 4pm from the screen). On the Mere there are large flocks of whopper swans, pink-footed geese and Greylag geese. We are seeing the peregrine daily which is causing the lapwing (600), starlings (2000) and teal (1000) to lift and display flying around in huge flocks.

There are lots of passerines in the trees as you walk down the nature trail including goldfinches, long-tailed tits, redwing, fieldfare, mistle thrushes.

Walk around the reedbed walk and listen out for the loud calls of the Cetti's warbler, the water rails are very vocal next to the Harrier hide (first stretch of the reedbed walk). Woodcock flew over today.
