Little grebe sighting & sand martins moving through
Sand Martins, house martins can be seen from Sand Martin hide and Ramsar hides this morning along with a grey heron and 12 gadwall ducks.
A kingfisher and a little grebe spotted this morning on Wetland Discovery this morning. The kingfishers continue to show well for visitors on the boat safari trips.
In the hedgerows and trees of the reserve we are seeing bullfinch, chaffinch, goldfinch, long-tailed tits and blue, great and coal tits. In the reedbed look out for reed warblers, water voles and common darter dragonflies when the sun comes out.
In the skies above look out for migrating martins (house & sand) and swallows.
Both buzzards and peregrines were spotted above cliffs of the Offham Hangar.
Loads of insects around on the wildflowers including the hornet hoverfly spotted yesterday. One of the largest flies in the UK they measure at least 2 cm long.
