LRP's

More great weather, if we aren't to careful we'll be complaining that it's 'too nice' to turn up any late migrants! It is however great for the breeding population with young.

This Black-headed Gull pair are still thinking about breeding while others have hatched chicks. (Andy Bunting)

One or two Avocet pairs have recently hatched chicks out on Woodend Marsh. Nesting waders present include Lapwing, Redshank, Oystercatcher and possibly in the coming weeks Ringed Plover and Little Ringed Plover.

One of 3 or 4 Little Ringed Plover present at the moment.

Other waders included 3 Ruff (one breed plumaged male), Black-tailed Godwit and Dunlin.

The only birds of prey were Buzzard, Kestrel and Sparrowhawk.

Pair of Common Tern on Woodend Marsh. Barn Owl hunting early on from the Kingfisher Hide.

Cuckoos calling in the back end of the grounds/Reed Bed by Harrier Hide. Bittern still booming from there too.

Pied Wagtail showing well around the Mere.

Warblers singing include Cetti's, Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Blackcap, Whitethroat, Reed and Sedge Warbler. We assume the Grasshopper Warblers are also singing but no reports recently.

If you've seen anything or counted numbers do call in at the in focus shop, next to the Discovery Hide. We can also tell you were the best spots are currently.
