Maintenance Works on the Saline Lagoons
Essential maintenance work will be carried out on the saline lagoons in front of the British Steel Hide and Michael Powell Hide on Thursday 14th and Friday 15th April.
Over time the seaward banks of the Saline Lagoons have become eroded during spring tides and they now urgently need repairing with machinery.
We apologise for the disturbance whilst we work to protect and maintain this unique habitat for wildlife in the long term.
After the repairs have been completed, there will be a period of around a month when the water level in two of the lagoons is very low. This will allow the repaired banks to settle and harden before the next set of spring tides. We hope the exposed mud will attract migrating birds to the lagoons before they fill up again in early May.
Thank you for your patience and understanding,
The Reserve Team
