Maisie has landed
Today we've been celebrating our Bewick's Swans with a special weekend dedicated to them as part of our Wild Winter weekends. The Bewick's Swan weekend continue tomorrow, more details available here. We've also welcomed at least 8 new swans today including Maisie, our satellite tagged bird we've been following back from Russia. She was logged near our centre at Welney in Norfolk at 10am this morning and landed on the Rushy with mate Maifeld just after 2:30pm in time for the afternoon feed.
Rushy Hide & Peng Observatory
If you want to know more about the swans then pop into the Peng Observatory tomorrow to speak to one of our researchers. There were 87 birds on the pond this morning for the feed but we've logged over 100 individuals throughout today thanks to their unique bill patterns. During the feed a good sized flock of Ruff and Redshank were wheeling around low over the water with a big flock of Lapwing tumbling overhead.

Robbie Garnett Hide
Amongst the hundreds of Wigeon and Teal were a good number of Pintail and Shoveler. The flock of White-fronted Geese spent part of the day on the Tack Piece and numbered 72 birds. A pair of Crane were calling from the fields to the north and at least 2 Peregrine were seen throughout the day.

South Lake Hides
The scrape was largely frozen first thing with 2500 Lapwing roosting on the ice with 129 Black-tailed Godwit and 100+ Dunlin. A Little Stint was seen briefly on the causeway. A great count of 71 Snipe in front of the Hogarth Hide was an extra treat.
