Marsh harriers and more
It's been a busy week with lots of sightings, including two marsh harriers.
It has been very exciting to see our first pink-footed geese of the season! 7 were spotted on the whooper and folly pond along with 250 canada geese. We have also been visited by 1 shelduck and are frequently seeing strong numbers of curlews (60 this week was the highest count). We have had raptor excitement this week with an osprey, marsh harrier and merlin out on the merse, and a marsh harrier over the flood ground area. There are quite a few migrant hawkers around the back pond and in sunny conditions they can be seen darting through the avenues. And an otter was spotted on the back pond one evening!
