Meet Santa and his huskies at Britain’s favourite nature reserve
Get into the festive mood at London Wetland Centre’s Winter Wonderland weekend! Children will be thrilled to hop aboard for a husky sleigh ride and to visit Santa in his grotto, and even enjoy our unique Christmas Wetlands show. There's something for everyone, with wine tasting for adults and a chance to do some last minute Christmas shopping. And on Saturday a team of beautiful Shire horses will signal the opening of the festivities.
Meet Santa’s huggable huskies: they’re lovely to look at but also working animals, so younger children can experience the excitement of a husky sleigh ride. Or perhaps you’d like a family photo taken with one of these cuddly dogs as a special seasonal souvenir? Then head over to our northern pine forest; Father Christmas will be ready to welcome families in his cosy log cabin grotto among the trees.
Our Christmas show tells a traditional story with a conservation twist: A Wetland Christmas Carol! Scrooge hates wetlands: he thinks they’re yucky, muddy places of no use to anyone. Will the Ghosts of Wetlands Past, Present and Future manage to persuade him otherwise? There are two shows each day throughout the Christmas holidays. You can also get creative in our Christmas arts and crafts sessions.
On Saturday, Fullers' splendid shire horses, Griffin and Pride, will be here to welcome visitors. And throughout the weekend Winehound will be hosting a complementary seasonal wine tasting in our Gallery: a perfect way to discover some delicious wines for the festive season.
Here at Britain’s favourite nature reserve you can enjoy the Christmas celebrations among beautiful surroundings. Take a stroll among the lakes, meadows and ponds of this wonderful winter oasis. See exotic ducks and geese from around the globe in World Wetlands and watch the otters enjoying their own version of Christmas dinner!
After your winter walk warm yourself up with a mulled cider, hot chocolate or a mince pie. You can even enjoy your own Christmas lunch in our Water’s Edge Café. In our shop there's enough choice for you to fill everyone's Christmas stocking this year, with classic confectionery and plenty of wildlife themed gifts. Tempt your taste buds throughout the weekend with special Christmas tastings of wonderfully old-fashioned sweets and chocolates.

Normal admission prices to WWT London Wetland Centre apply but there is no additional charge for the husky sleigh rides, the Wine Hound wine tasting and The Wetland Christmas Carol Show. The sleigh rides are suitable for children aged 8 and under. Please note, there is a £5 charge per child to visit Father Christmas which includes a goody bag. Santa and his huskies will be at the Centre from 10.00am until 4.00pm each day; queues may be lengthy so please be prepared to wait. The Wetland Christmas Carol show runs in the Theatre at 12 noon and 3.30 each day. There is no need to book.
