Lisa's art in her own words:
She works in a variety of arts media and explores art making processes using intuitive mark making both figurative and abstract.
She uses symbols to explore questions about environment, place, and identity. Eco-cultural identity is an old concept, the deer, lapwing and pheasant appear in ancient mythology. They are portrayed in a contemporary setting. Sometimes appearing as skulls or in surreal reflections like reminders of their power and importance both past and present.
Humans appear as sometimes half animal and half human. These suggests a narrative of fragmented or changing identity. Other figures are represented as listening, aware and thoughtful.
