Monday's Sightings

Lovely start to the day after yesterday non-stop rain. Currently the grounds are closed but no problems for access to the hides and nature trails..

Water levels are high across the reserve and Plover Field/Ashtons/Owl Marsh look fantastic with newly flooded areas.

A gap in the weather also looks like it's bringing in some new Pink-footed Geese flocks with small groups coming in high from the east.

Quite a lot of passerine movement today, Skylarks and Meadow Pipits moving through. Also a small passage of Swallow and House Martin.

Minimum of 5 Marsh Harrier this morning, Peregrine, juv Hobby, 20 Buzzard and 5 Sparrowhawk, kettling over the reserve. Raven present.

At least 25 Ruff (below) associating with 700+ Lapwing.

Kingfisher(s) around the reserve, showing well from the Ron Barker Hide.

Bullfinch, a number of Goldcrest and Nuthatch around the Janet Kear Hide.

Lots of Migrant Hawker Dragonfly around.

If you've seen anything on the reserve or would like to know what's around do call into the in focus shop next to the Discovery Hide.
