Rushy

Great to see 21 Bewick Swans on the Rushy this morning including a favorite pair with
a family of 5 big youngsters. (See Julias swan update for details). Tufted Duck and
Pochard have increased here as well.

Martin Smith Hide

The 4 Snipe seem very settled here now. They were joined by a Grey Wagtail this
morning and a Cettis Warbler was singing nearby. Watch out for Water Rails as well
there have been lots of reports over the past few days.

Robbie Garnett Hide

Big increases in the Wigeon flock with over 700 here this morning. A few Teal were
scattered along the waters edge and a big flock of 500 Lapwing feeding across the field.

Holden Tower

The Whitefront flock was to the north partly obscurred by the sea wall so dont know if
they have increased along with the Swans. The tide was high around 09.00, 14 Grey
Plover
and over 1000 Dunlin were roosting here. Somthing of a celebration of birds of
prey with A Peregrine a lone Kestrel and 3 Buzzards all in view at the same time.

Zeiss Hide

A very nervouse gang of Mallard and Pochard gave away a lurking Bittern. It remained
in the open and showed well from the Van De Bovenkamp Hide as well. Lets
hope it stays for a spell. The rest of the field was very busy. There were 1100 Teal, 32
Pintail, 500 Lapwing, 65 Redshank and 39 Black Tailed Godwit.

Kingfisher Hide

A further 400 Lapwing were feeding here along with 3 Ruff and a Cettis Warbler was
singing in the reeds.

South Lake

More newly arrived diving duck here with 37 Pochard and 120 Tufted Duck. Lots of
Lapwings, Teal and a good mixture of other Ducks. Around 70 Black Tailed Godwit
were roosting on the scrape.

Passing Over

Some very good movement of migrants this morning. over 50 Siskin, 12 Redpoll, 90
Fieldfare, 20 Redwing and 6 Skylark recorded all heading north !
