New arrivals & health and safety audit

I have been busy the last couple of days as the Centre has been having a Health & Safety audit.

This is the first time we have had one of these at the Centre and it basically involves an independent consultant coming to look around all of our buildings and the yard and assessing us on our H&S. This includes going through our risk assessments and operation manuals, ensuring that they are kept up to date and renewed. Our Maintenance Manager, Pete Bullen looks after all of that and he is fantastic at his job ensuring that everything has gone smoothly. We have to wait for the report to be published but fingers crossed we have passed with flying colours.

One thing this H&S review has done is ensure we can have a good sort out. As with anywhere, we are always short of storage space so things get piled up. With the new cafe we have been able to ease the situation as we can use the old cafe storage space in the building - so our Marketing Manager has taken over that area for all of the leaflets and exhibition and membership materials, which does provide more room for our education team. I guess storage is a never ending issue!

Some fantastic news - we have just recently had two blue cranes arrive at the Centre . This is the first time a WWT centre has blue cranes and they will hopefully be a great new exhibit for us. The Marketing Manager will be taking some photographs this week so I will ensure I put a selection on this diary to give you a sneak preview of them!
