New bus service launching

From Monday 17 June, WWT visitors can use the newly launched bookable Robin bus service - covering the Berkeley Vale area.

This accessible service is run by Gloucestershire County Council and connects places in rural locations which often have infrequent or no fixed routes.

Following a successful pilot in the Forest of Dean and North Cotswold and with additional funding from the Department for Transport (DfT) this service has now been extended to three other districts – Berkeley Vale (which will include WWT Slimbridge), Tewkesbury area and Cotswold South (which covers Cirencester and Tetbury). The bus services in each of the 5 areas are not interconnected and only serve their areas.

The Berkeley Vale service is not a dedicated WWT Slimbridge shuttle bus but it can and will serve the centre. It we will have a dedicated Robin bus stop service for pick ups and drop offs for the Berkeley Vale Robin (despite not being a public bus stop). The bus will stop outside the toilet block in our car park - this will provide shelter, toilets and there will be a noticeboard with contact details and a bus stop sign.

The services will run from 7am to 7pm Monday to Saturday including bank holidays, with the exception of Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.
