Bernard the Whooper has arrived!
Please be aware, the B725 is closed at Brow Well bridge. If you are visiting from the Carlisle/Annan direction you have to come via Dumfries. The bridge has suffered severe damage due to recent flooding and may be closed for a significant amount of time.
This morning has been full of excitement already! Our big news today is the arrival of our first tagged and named Whooper swan. It has been lovely watching Bernard (orange tag, XLJ) feeding in the glorious sunshine on the Whooper pond. Commentated swan feeds have commenced and take place at 11am and 2pm every day from the Peter Scott Observatory.
Some very small and fluffy Moorhen chicks have been seen looking lovely on the Flood Ground over the last few days which is very exciting news as their breeding success is something we have been keeping an eye on in recent years.
A fox was seen out on the Merse from the Saltcot Observatory this morning as well.
High Tide: 15:30, 9.6m
Opening times:
10am - 5pm every day except Christmas Day
