Pale-bellied Brent Goose

Another good day on site with new sightings in the form of the first Pale-bellied Brent Goose for a number of years, first on the Mere then in the Plover field with a few thousand Pink-footed Geese, also a single Barnacle Goose was new before flying off with Pinkfeet.

Also today the Great White Egret was around, mainly in the ditches at the back of the Mere or in Langley's brook from Ron Barker Hide.

One of the Pectoral Sandpipers was on Woodend Marsh most of the day, also at least 13 Black-tailed Godwit, 25+ Ruff, 100+ Snipe and 800+ Lapwing.

Good numbers of Marsh Harriers still around with a count of 6 on Wednesday, still at least 2-3 seen today also 2 Peregrine in recent days including a juvenile yesterday. Several Common Buzzard, a few Kestrel and Sparrowhawk all being seen.
