Peregrine strike

One of the adult Peregrines gave the few earlybirds in the Holden Tower a very close encounter this morning, it took a drake Wigeon in flight over the hide and dropped into the Tack Piece nearby. It was unable to feed on its kill as two Buzzard and 2 Carrion Crow drove it away after a minute or two.

Holden Tower

30+ Eurasian White-fronted Geese, 300+ Canada Geese and 200+ Barnacle Geese were grazing the saltmarsh. Two of the presumed Canada x domestic Goose (white) were also present.

South Lake

Very quiet on the wader scrape and duck marsh, a female Stonechat was following the work party at the south end. About 250 dabbling/diving duck were on the deep lake.

Zeiss Hide

1200 Wigeon and 140 Teal.
