Rain all day but it didn't stop play

Rushy Pen

The two Whooper Swans roosted and remained to feed, they flew off together and hadn't returned by 4pm. At least 38 Bewick's Swans were also at the roost as well as 45 Pintail and 60 Pochard.

Tack Piece

Tractor topping this afternoon revealed a Jack Snipe (flew off toward Top New Piece), 10 Snipe, a pair of Stonechat and two Skylark in the centre of the field, all favouring the weedy patch near the scrape.

Holden Tower

34 Shelduck, 40 Great Black-backed Gull and six Cranes at 1300hrs.

Zeiss Hide

The duck flock was mostly Teal but 140 Pintail were sheltering from the estuary. At least 10 Snipe were out feedin gin the open and 100+ Dunlin and 6 Ruff.

Kingfisher Hide

Very, very busy, the puddles and floods attracting nearly all the Wigeon on site. Over 3000 of these whistling and growling ducks were joined by large numbers of Teal and smaller numbers of Black-tailed Godwit, Curlew, Dunlin, Starling, Pintail, Lapwing and Snipe. A Little Grebe was on the pool.

South Lake

At least 70 Shoveler on the deep lake with a Little Grebe.
