Treat your family to a wild day out at WWT Washington Wetland Centre this Easter.
Spring is an eggs-tra special time of year at our award-winning conservation site; with real-life Easter eggs hatching, bluebells and primroses blooming, tadpoles wriggling and wild wading birds nesting, as well as a host of activities to take part in.
Join us from Saturday 16 April-Monday 2 May for family-friendly fun with free pond dipping sessions (daily, 11-noon and 1-2pm), den-building in the woods (daily, 11am-noon and 1-2pm, £3 per den) and an Easter rubber duck hunt (Sunday 24 April, ongoing from 11am-3pm).
Plus, craft activities are taking place in the Discovery Centre from 1.30-3.30pm. Create a mini-garden (£2.50), design a cool fan (£2.50), make an Easter basket (£1.50) or design a ceramic coaster (£2).
Visitors can also take a peek at the newest Easter egg arrivals at Waterfowl Nursery, including call ducks, puna teal and Indian runner ducks.
By visiting WWT Washington this Easter you are directly supporting the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust’s conservation breeding work. Across WWT’s nine centres almost 2,000 waterbirds are hatched each year, giving visitors the opportunity to see adorable baby birds up close while learning about WWT’s work to conserve rare species in the UK and overseas.
Conservation breeding is a vital tool in the fight to save endangered species and one that our founder Sir Peter Scott was among the first to use when he famously rescued the nene – or Hawaiian goose - from extinction.
