Recent sightings

A few new waders have been passing through over the last couple of days, one of the Wood Sandpipers remains albeit distantly from Ron Barker Hide, also at least 40 Ruff, 2 juv Little Ringed Plover, 70-80 Snipe around the reserve, 4 Common Sandpiper, 1 Green Sandpiper, 4 juv Greenshank were out from Harrier Hide this afternoon. Yesterday there was a brief visit by a Little Stint and a Dunlin from Ron Barker before flying off, and there were 5 Black-tailed Godwit as well as 1000+ Lapwing.

The Hobby is still being seen most days, and can be seen anywhere around the reserve. Also still 2-3 Marsh Harrier, adult Peregrine, 4+ Kestrel, 2 Sparrowhawk and several Common Buzzard.

Little Grebes have been showing well, right in front of Hale Hide on the small pond over the weekend.

A Whinchat was seen from UU Hide on Saturday, also a Grey Wagtail was the first for a while.

A Long-tailed Tit flock of c30 birds by the In Focus shop on saturday also contained 3-4 Coal Tits and 4 Chiffchaff.
