Recent Sightings 13th - 17th November
Highlights: Spoonbill, Wood sandpiper, Snipe
Saline Lagoon and Dafen Scrapes:
The saline lagoon has continued to impress with the large group of 16 Spoonbill (17/11) that are regularly visiting the site in front of the British steel Hide. Smaller Groups of waders were also present on the Lagoon with some Black-tailed Godwit, Dunlin, Redshank and Greenshank (17/11). The Dafen Scrapes were home to large groups of Wigeon (17/11) and smaller numbers of Tufted Ducks and Shovelers (17/11).
Millennium Wetlands:
The Millennium wetlands was home to Gadwall, Shoveler, Teal and Tufted ducks throughout the week,with occasional sightings of Snipe throughout the week also (15/11 and 13/11). Flying over the southern loop of the grounds Ravens were regularly seen and heard this week also.Over the Northern Loop of the reserve the Red kite (14/11) can still be seen also.
Fungus round up:
With the weather getting cooler and Damper it is the season to keep your eye out for the last of Autumnal blooms and a Special thanks to a visitor this week who submitted their own list of fungus they saw on the Site! Now for the roundup: Turkey Tail, Deceiver, Wrinkled Crust, Candle Snuff Fungus, Orange moss agaric, Common Inkcap, Shaggy Inkcap, Glistening Inkcap and Orange Jelly fungus.
