Recent Sightings 15th-18th February
Highlights - Egyptian Goose, Spoonbill, Green Woodpecker, Peregrine and Otter
British Steel Hide
Despite bad weather there are still plenty of good things to be seen. A Peregrine was seen resting out on the salt marsh where an Egyptian Goose was also seen briefly. On the Dafen Scrapes the Spoonbills have been showing very well long with lots of Lapwing, Redshank and Black-tailed Godwits. There is also a good selection of wildfowl, with high numbers of Wigeon, Gadwall, Tufted Ducks and Mallard being seen.
Millennium Wetlands
The Lapwings have been displaying on and off in recent days over the Deep Water Lake and West Scrapes. A Sparrowhawk and Buzzard have been seen from the Peter Scott Hide where a Green Woodpecker has been seen twice. Greylag and Canada Geese have been seen on and over the Western Scrapes. From the Welsh Water Hide a Water Rail has been heard calling from within the reed bed. Cettis Warbler can be heard singing from various locations around the Millennium Wetlands.
