Recent sightings - 17th August
The following sightings were recorded by Toni Castello and Kez Armstrong, Senior Reserve Warden and Aviculturist.
Main lake – visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre
Tufted duck 2, Coot 2, Mallard 130, Wigeon 4.
Freshwater lagoon – visible from Brent Hide and Crannog
Tufted duck 1, Mute swan 2 adults + 4 cygnets, Wigeon 1, Little grebe 1.
Estuary – visible from Brent hide and Limekiln observatory
Curlew +50, Oystercatcher +400, Black-headed gull +300, Lesser black-backed gull 1, Herring gull 1, Little egret 4, Grey heron 2, Great cormorant 5, Ringed plover: Calls of 2 adults in the Pier bay.
Limestone lake
Red Kite, probably on its migration journey, using the Castle Espie woodland as a resting point. Seen yesterday by Kez Armstrong.
