Recent Sightings (21st- 24th Oct)

British Steel Hide

Unfortunately only a few sightings from the hide recently due to a lack of reports but birds seen from the hide have included 310 Black-tailed Godwits, 182 Curlew, 6 Greenshank, 12 Tufted Ducks, 2 Shoveler, 2 Teal, 4 Gadwall, 5 Shelduck and 4 Wigeon.

Millennium Wetlands

Its feeling very much like winter on the wetlands recently with a big influx of Thrushes and Finches evident around the reserve. Thrushes have included 24+ Redwing, 6 Fieldfare, 30+Mistle Thrushes and 15+ Song Thrushes. Finches have included 2 Lesser Redpoll, 20+ Goldfinches, Siskins, 10+ Bullfinches and lots of Chaffinches.

Wildfowl on the reserve have included 71 Gadwall, 16 Tufted Duck, 9 Teal, 9 Coot, 2 Pochard and 2 Little Grebes. 24 Lapwing, 2 Snipe and a Black-tailed Godwit have been seen from the Peter Scott hide. Kingfishers, Grey Wagtails, Stonechats and Meadow Pipits are regularly seen around the reserve, usually around the Deep Water Lake.
