Recent Sightings 21st - 27th January
Highlights - Goldeneye, Spotted Redshank, Long-tailed Duck, Otters and Hen Harrier.

The recent high tides have resulted in a wide range of waders gathering on the Saline Lagoons. Hundreds of Knot have been seen as well as two Spotted Redshank, Dunlin, Greenshank, Black-tailed Godwit, Lapwing, Redshank and Curlew. The Long-tailed Duck was last seen on the 25th in its usual spot on the furthest lagoon on the Dafen Scrapes. The six Spoonbills have been frequenting the Saline Lagoons with occasional visits to the Freshwater Lagoon. A female Goldeneye has been seen a couple of times, once on the Dafen Scrapes then again briefly on the Freshwater Lagoon. A pair of Peregrines have been regularly hunting around the Saline Lagoons and a Hen Harrier has been seen hunting over the saltmarsh.
Millennium Wetlands
A few lucky visitors were treated to excellent views of the Otter family. They were seen fishing under the ice along the Northern Loop and breaking through when coming up to take a breath! Eight Pochard were seen on Deep Water Lake along with the usual wildfowl. Two Willow Tits are regularly being seen along the Northern Loop, in particular around the Pond Walk area.
