Recent Sightings 25th-28th January

Highlights: Otter, Spoonbill, Red kite, Snipe and little Grebe

British Steel Hide:

Out on the Saline Lagoons the Spoonbill can still be seen along with a large variety of Waders such as: Black-tailed Godwit, Bar-tailed Godwit, Greenshank, Redshank, Knot, Lapwing, Dunlin and Curlew. A Red Kite was sighted hunting over the Salt Marsh as well as a Merlin so keep eyes peeled for those birds of prey! Increased numbers of Wigeon have started showing on Dafen Scrapes along with diverse selection of Wildfowl including; Teal, Gadwall, Shoveler, Pochard and Mallard.

Millennium Wetlands

Once again the otter has been spotted again fishing on Deep Water Lake from both the Herons Wing Hide and the screens on centre path! More Snipe and Lapwing are beginning to show interest in the Western Scrapes and are often seen inspecting the site, they can also be seen on roosting on the Deep Water Lake Stone Islands in front of the Peter Scot Hide. There have been plenty of Wildfowl spotted on the lake including; Pochard, Wigeon, Teal, Gadwall, Tufted Duck, Shelduck, Goldeneye Mallard and increasing numbers of Little Grebe.
